Understanding KRAS
What it means: KRAS mutations (G12C, G12D, G12V, etc.) lock the protein in active state, driving cell proliferation. Most common oncogene mutation.
Why it matters: KRAS G12C inhibitors (sotorasib, adagrasib) are now available. Other KRAS mutations remain challenging targets.
Testing: Tested via NGS or PCR-based assays. KRAS status also predicts resistance to EGFR antibodies in colorectal cancer.
