KLOR-CON M20 (potassium chloride)

Renal Approved 1998-11-20

Klor-Con M20 is a potassium salt used to manage and prevent low potassium levels in the blood, a condition known as hypokalemia. It helps patients who cannot maintain healthy potassium levels through diet alone or by adjusting their diuretic medications. This medication is also used when low potassium occurs alongside metabolic alkalosis.

How KLOR-CON M20 Works

Potassium chloride works by providing potassium ions, the principal intracellular cations of most body tissues. These ions are essential for maintaining intracellular tonicity, transmitting nerve impulses, and ensuring the proper contraction of cardiac, skeletal, and smooth muscles. By replenishing these levels, the drug supports normal renal function and maintains the electrochemical gradient between intracellular and plasma potassium concentrations.
