METHYLENE BLUE
Methylene Blue is an injection used for both children and adults who have developed acquired methemoglobinemia. This medication helps patients by restoring the blood's ability to carry oxygen properly. It is typically prescribed to manage this specific blood condition when it is acquired rather than inherited.
How METHYLENE BLUE Works
This drug works as an oxidation-reduction agent that converts methemoglobin back into normal hemoglobin. Once inside the body, it is transformed into leucomethylene blue, which then reduces the ferric iron in the blood to a ferrous state. This process allows the hemoglobin to function normally again.
