DRAXIMAGE DTPA (technetium tc-99m pentetate kit)

Lead Chelating Activity
Cardiovascular Approved 1989-12-29

Draximage DTPA is a diagnostic radiopharmaceutical kit used to prepare Technetium Tc 99m pentetate. It is indicated for brain imaging in adults and for renal visualization, assessment of renal perfusion, and estimation of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in both adult and pediatric patients. Additionally, when administered via inhalation, it is used for lung ventilation imaging and the evaluation of pulmonary embolism (when paired with perfusion imaging) in both adult and pediatric patients.

How DRAXIMAGE DTPA Works

Following intravenous administration, Technetium Tc 99m pentetate distributes within the vascular compartment and is cleared by the kidneys through glomerular filtration, which enables imaging of the renal system and assessment of filtration rates. When administered as an inhaled aerosol, the agent deposits on the epithelium of the ventilated pulmonary alveoli, allowing for the visualization of air distribution within the lungs.
