FORMOTEROL FUMARATE
FORMOTEROL FUMARATE is indicated for the treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease; Chronic Bronchitis; Emphysema; Bronchoconstriction.
How FORMOTEROL FUMARATE Works
Formoterol fumarate acts as a selective beta2-adrenergic receptor agonist. By stimulating these receptors, it activates the enzyme adenyl cyclase, which catalyzes the conversion of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to cyclic-3', 5'-adenosine monophosphate (cyclic AMP). Increased intracellular cyclic AMP levels lead to the relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle and the inhibition of the release of immediate hypersensitivity mediators, such as histamine and leukotrienes, from mast cells. These combined actions result in sustained bronchodilation and improved airflow.
