JALYN (dutasteride)

5-alpha Reductase Inhibitors
Urology Approved 2010-06-14

Jalyn helps men who experience symptoms related to an enlarged prostate, a condition known as benign prostatic hyperplasia. This combination medication is used to improve urine flow and reduce the physical discomfort associated with the condition. It is specifically intended for patients with symptomatic enlargement and should not be used for the prevention of prostate cancer.

How JALYN Works

This medication works by blocking the conversion of testosterone into DHT, the hormone primarily responsible for prostate enlargement, while simultaneously relaxing the smooth muscles in the bladder neck and prostate. By inhibiting the 5-alpha-reductase enzyme and blocking alpha 1-adrenoceptors, the drug helps address the underlying cause of growth and improves the rate of urine flow.
