MERCAPTOPURINE
MERCAPTOPURINE is indicated for the treatment of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
How MERCAPTOPURINE Works
Mercaptopurine is a purine analog that undergoes intracellular transport and activation to form thioguanine nucleotides (TGNs). These metabolites are incorporated into DNA and RNA, leading to cell-cycle arrest and apoptosis. Additionally, mercaptopurine and its metabolites inhibit de novo purine synthesis and purine nucleotide interconversions.
