RIMACTANE (rifampin)
RIMACTANE is indicated for the treatment of Tuberculosis.
How RIMACTANE Works
Rifampin inhibits DNA-dependent RNA polymerase activity in susceptible organisms, including *Mycobacterium tuberculosis*. By specifically interacting with bacterial RNA polymerase, it blocks the initiation of RNA transcription. It does not inhibit the mammalian enzyme, which accounts for its selective toxicity against bacteria.
