STRIVERDI RESPIMAT (olodaterol hydrochloride)

Respiratory Approved 2014-07-31

Striverdi Respimat is a long-acting inhaled medication used for the daily maintenance of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It helps patients with chronic bronchitis and emphysema by providing long-term relief from airflow obstruction. This medication is taken once a day to manage symptoms over time, though it is not used to manage sudden breathing problems or asthma.

How STRIVERDI RESPIMAT Works

This drug works by binding to and activating beta 2-adrenoceptors in the airways, which triggers the production of an enzyme called adenyl cyclase. This process increases levels of cyclic-AMP, which causes the smooth muscle cells in the lungs to relax. This relaxation leads to bronchodilation, helping to open the airways for easier breathing.
