How CIPROFLOXACIN HYDROCHLORIDE Works
Ciprofloxacin is a member of the fluoroquinolone class that exerts bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV. These enzymes are critical for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. By targeting these enzymes, ciprofloxacin causes primary DNA damage and prevents bacterial cell synthesis, leading to cell death.
