DETECTNET (copper cu-64 dotatate)
Detectnet is a radioactive diagnostic tool used to help locate neuroendocrine tumors in adult patients. When used alongside positron emission tomography (PET) scans, it helps identify specific tumors that express somatostatin receptors. This imaging agent allows healthcare providers to visualize the presence and position of these malignant cells throughout the body.
How DETECTNET Works
This agent works by binding to somatostatin receptors, specifically targeting the subtype 2 receptors that are often overexpressed on malignant neuroendocrine cells. Once attached to these cells, the radioactive copper component emits positrons. This emission allows the tumors to be detected and localized using PET imaging technology.
