IMVEXXY (estradiol)
Imvexxy is an estrogen medication used to help postmenopausal patients experiencing moderate to severe pain during sexual intercourse. This condition, known as dyspareunia, is a symptom of vulvar and vaginal atrophy that occurs as natural estrogen levels decline. The drug helps manage these physical changes to improve comfort for women during and after the menopausal transition.
How IMVEXXY Works
This medication works by binding to nuclear receptors within estrogen-responsive tissues to mimic the effects of naturally occurring estradiol. As the primary and most potent human estrogen, it helps maintain the female reproductive system and regulates hormone levels by reducing the elevated secretion of gonadotropins often seen after menopause.
