Mannitol 10% is an osmotic diuretic used to help patients with swelling in the brain or high pressure inside the skull. It also treats patients who have increased pressure within their eyes. This medication is administered intravenously to manage these specific types of fluid-related pressure issues.
How MANNITOL 10% IN PLASTIC CONTAINER Works
This drug works by increasing the osmolarity of the blood and the fluid filtered by the kidneys. Because it stays mostly outside of cells, it pulls water out of the cells and into the bloodstream. This process helps reduce swelling and pressure in the brain and eyes while also preventing the kidneys from reabsorbing water.
