How MEFENAMIC ACID Works

This medication works by inhibiting the COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes, which prevents the synthesis of prostaglandins. Because prostaglandins are responsible for sensitizing nerves and mediating inflammation, reducing their levels in peripheral tissues helps lower pain, fever, and swelling.
