RANOLAZINE is indicated for the treatment of Angina.
How RANOLAZINE Works
The precise mechanism of ranolazine's antianginal action remains undetermined. At therapeutic concentrations, it inhibits the cardiac late sodium current ($I_{Na}$); however, the specific relationship between this inhibition and symptom relief is not fully established. Ranolazine also inhibits the delayed rectifier potassium current ($I_{Kr}$), which prolongs the ventricular action potential and the QT interval. These anti-ischemic effects occur independently of changes in heart rate, blood pressure, or the rate-pressure product.
