KAPSPARGO SPRINKLE (metoprolol succinate)

Trial Activity: Mature 5 active trials
Cardiovascular Approved 2018-01-26

KAPSPARGO SPRINKLE is indicated for the treatment of Hypertension; Angina Pectoris; Heart Failure.

How KAPSPARGO SPRINKLE Works

Metoprolol succinate is a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker. At therapeutic doses, it preferentially inhibits beta-1 receptors located chiefly in cardiac muscle, resulting in a decrease in heart rate, cardiac output, and AV nodal conduction. It lacks intrinsic sympathomimetic activity. Its antihypertensive effects are attributed to several mechanisms, including competitive antagonism of catecholamines at peripheral adrenergic neuron sites (leading to decreased cardiac output), reduction of sympathetic outflow from the central nervous system, and suppression of renin activity. At higher plasma concentrations, metoprolol’s selectivity diminishes, and it may inhibit beta-2 adrenoreceptors in the bronchial and vascular musculature.

How We Calculate These Metrics

Trial Activity Stage

Measures the current development activity pattern based on trial phases, status, and trends. Important: This measures R&D activity, not commercial lifecycle.

Trial statuses: "Active" means recruiting or ongoing. "Completed" means reached planned endpoint. "Terminated" means stopped early—often due to safety, efficacy, or business reasons.

  • Growth: High proportion of early-phase trials (Phase 1/2), active development
  • Expansion: Significant Phase 3 activity, approaching or pursuing approvals
  • Mature: Substantial Phase 4 post-marketing studies
  • Stable: Mixed phase distribution, steady development
  • Declining: Low active trial ratio, reduced R&D investment
