SIMPESSE (ethinyl estradiol)
Simpesse is an extended-cycle combination oral contraceptive (COC) indicated for use by females of reproductive potential to prevent pregnancy. It is supplied in a 91-day regimen consisting of 84 days of levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol, followed by 7 days of low-dose ethinyl estradiol monotherapy.
How SIMPESSE Works
Simpesse prevents pregnancy primarily by suppressing ovulation. Secondary mechanisms may include thickening of the cervical mucus to inhibit sperm ascent and alterations to the endometrium to discourage implantation.
