ANASTROZOLE
Anastrozole helps postmenopausal women manage hormone receptor-positive breast cancer in both early and advanced stages. It is used as an additional therapy for early-stage cancer and serves as a primary option for locally advanced or metastatic cases. Additionally, it treats advanced breast cancer in patients whose disease has progressed after previous tamoxifen therapy.
How ANASTROZOLE Works
This drug works by selectively inhibiting the aromatase enzyme, which postmenopausal women rely on to convert adrenal androgens into estrogen. By blocking this process, it significantly lowers the amount of estradiol in the blood and within tumor tissues. Since many breast cancers are stimulated by estrogen, reducing these levels helps suppress the growth of the cancer cells.
