BEVESPI AEROSPHERE (formoterol fumarate)
**DRUG: BEVESPI AEROSPHERE (glycopyrrolate and formoterol fumarate)** BEVESPI AEROSPHERE is indicated for the long-term maintenance treatment of airflow obstruction in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It is a fixed-dose combination of a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA) and a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA). This medication is intended for regular, twice-daily administration to improve lung function and is **not** indicated for the relief of acute bronchospasm or the treatment of asthma.
How BEVESPI AEROSPHERE Works
BEVESPI AEROSPHERE combines two bronchodilators with different mechanisms of action to improve pulmonary function. **Glycopyrrolate** is a long-acting antimuscarinic (anticholinergic) that inhibits M3 receptors at the smooth muscle, preventing acetylcholine-induced bronchoconstriction. **Formoterol fumarate** is a long-acting selective beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) that stimulates intracellular adenyl cyclase, increasing cyclic AMP levels and leading to relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle. Together, these agents provide dual bronchodilation through both muscarinic receptor antagonism and beta2-receptor agonism.
