OZOBAX DS (baclofen)
OZOBAX DS is indicated for the treatment of Spasticity; Multiple Sclerosis; Flexor Spasms; Pain; Clonus; Muscular Rigidity; Spinal Cord Injuries; Spinal Cord Disease.
How OZOBAX DS Works
OZOBAX DS is a gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) agonist that specifically targets GABA-B receptors. It acts primarily at the spinal cord level by inhibiting both monosynaptic and polysynaptic reflex transmission. By stimulating these receptors, baclofen restricts the influx of calcium into presynaptic terminals, thereby reducing the release of excitatory neurotransmitters (such as glutamate and aspartate). This hyperpolarization of motor neurons decreases the frequency and severity of muscle spasms and reduces muscular rigidity.
