TREANDA (bendamustine hydrochloride)
TREANDA is indicated for the treatment of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia; Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.
How TREANDA Works
Bendamustine is a bifunctional mechlorethamine derivative containing a purine-like benzimidazole ring. It acts by forming electrophilic alkyl groups that create covalent bonds with nucleophilic moieties, resulting in DNA interstrand crosslinks. This disruption of the DNA matrix leads to cell death via several pathways. Unlike many alkylating agents, bendamustine demonstrates activity against both quiescent and dividing cells, though its exact molecular mechanism of action remains not fully characterized.
