How VIVIMUSTA Works

Bendamustine is a bifunctional mechlorethamine derivative containing a purine-like benzimidazole ring. It works by forming electrophilic alkyl groups that create covalent bonds with electron-rich nucleophilic moieties, resulting in interstrand DNA crosslinks. This process disrupts the genetic material in both quiescent (resting) and dividing cells, triggering cell death through multiple pathways. While its exact mechanism of action is not fully understood, its bifunctional alkylating activity is the primary driver of its antineoplastic effect.
