EMERPHED (ephedrine sulfate)
Emerphed helps patients who experience a significant drop in blood pressure while undergoing anesthesia. This medication treats clinically important hypotension that can occur during surgical procedures. It is used to stabilize a patient's cardiovascular state by increasing arterial pressure and cardiac output when needed.
How EMERPHED Works
This drug works by directly stimulating alpha- and beta-adrenergic receptors while also triggering the release of norepinephrine from sympathetic nerves. These combined actions increase arterial blood pressure, cardiac output, and peripheral resistance to reverse low blood pressure.
