VASOPRESSIN
Vasopressin is used to raise blood pressure in adults experiencing vasodilatory shock. It helps patients who remain hypotensive even after receiving fluids and catecholamines. This medication provides a way to stabilize blood pressure in critical situations where standard interventions have not been sufficient.
How VASOPRESSIN Works
Vasopressin works by binding to V1 receptors on vascular smooth muscle, which triggers the release of intracellular calcium to cause blood vessels to constrict. Additionally, it stimulates V2 receptors to promote antidiuresis. These combined actions help raise the patient's blood pressure.
