LAZCLUZE (lazertinib mesylate)

Kinase Inhibitors Genetically Validated
Priority Review
Oncology Approved 2024-08-19

Lazcluze is a kinase inhibitor used for adults with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer. It helps patients whose tumors have specific genetic changes, specifically EGFR exon 19 deletions or exon 21 L858R mutations. This medication is used as a first-line therapy in combination with amivantamab.

How LAZCLUZE Works

Lazcluze works by inhibiting the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), specifically targeting mutated versions like exon 19 deletions and exon 21 L858R substitutions. By blocking these specific mutations more effectively than normal EGFR, the drug helps stop tumor growth. When used with amivantamab, it shows increased activity against cancer cells compared to using either drug alone.

LAZCLUZE Target & Pathway

Pro

Target

EGFR (Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor) Growth Factor Receptor

A receptor that triggers cell growth, proliferation, and survival when activated. Mutations or overexpression of EGFR drive many cancers, particularly lung cancer. Blocking EGFR stops the growth signals that fuel tumor progression.
