How QUDEXY XR Works

The exact mechanism of topiramate is unknown, but it is thought to exert its effects through four distinct properties identified in preclinical studies. The drug blocks voltage-dependent sodium channels and augments the activity of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyrate at GABA-A receptors. Additionally, it antagonizes the AMPA/kainate subtype of the glutamate receptor and inhibits the carbonic anhydrase enzyme. These combined actions are believed to contribute to the drug's efficacy in treating epilepsy and preventing migraines.
